Elk Creek Fire District Grant Program

The Elk Creek Fire District has secured grant funding that will provide a 50% match, up to $5,000, for creating defensible space. The process is as follows:

1) Have a home assessment done.  More information and sign up @ Home Assessments | Elk Creek Fire Protection District

2) Sign a commitment letter that you are going to be part of the program (can opt out anytime)

3) Complete the defensible portion of the work plan, using one of the approved contractors (Requires 3 bids).  Approved contractor list is pending completion. Work MUST be completed by one of the contractors, not the homeowner or others. Defensible space is defined as no vegetation from 100-150 from the edge of the home. This grant will not reimburse for landscaping rock.

4) Have the work reviewed to determine compliance with the defensible space portion of the home assessment.

5) If approved, will be reimbursed 50% of the contracted work within 180 days.
